Sylvia
Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post. My intent is to put a smile on your face. Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know. Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.
Sylvia was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1932. In April 1940 just a couple of weeks past her 8th birthday her father died. She graduated from Bradford High School in 1950 and attended Smith College where she excelled academically. She met her husband Ted in February 1956 during a party in Cambridge. They married in 1956 after a 4 month engagement.
Sylvia tried to commit suicide on several occasions once by cutting her legs and another time by taking an overdose of sleeping pills and still another by wrecking her vehicle. She received psychiatric care throughout the rest of her life. In 1962 she discovered her husband was having an affair with Assia, they separated the same year. She did commit suicide in 1963. You may know her better as Sylvia Plath AKA Sylvia Plath Hughes. Most believe that due to Ted’s affair he drove her to commit suicide. Her headstone has been damaged several times with vandals trying to remove the last name of Hughes. It is still being done to this day. Some of her writings include The Bell Jar, The Colossus and Other Poems, Ariel, Crossing the Water and Winter Trees. Like most authors she led a life filled with turmoil. Sad she died so young at 30.
