As the Thanksgiving holiday nears, I wanted to share this Guide to Holiday Entertaining.
Whether you are having the whole family over for the holidays or perhaps you plan to share with your neighbors, now is the time to start planning.
Plan Your Menu- Write a list of what you plan to serve. Include appetizers, main course, deserts and drinks.
Stock Your Pantry- Get ready for hosting with a well-stocked pantry and freezer. You will want to make sure that you have quick, no-cook appetizers, baking ingredients, spices and marinades, pie shells, cookie dough and plenty of fresh vegetables and stock.
Pre-Plan and Prep Cook- Once you have chosen your menu you can pre-cook many of the elements in advance. This will help you be able to free up from the kitchen and enjoy your guests.
Consider Your Space - Make sure you have enough space at the dinner table, do you need extra chairs or place settings. Is your oven space adequate for the quantity of food you will be preparing?
Ready The Guest Room- If your guest will be staying overnight, make sure they have everything they need. Set out extra towels, toiletries and bed linens.
Set The Mood- Keep decorative accessories handy during this season of entertaining. Keep it simple. A vase with fresh flowers and tea lights are enough to add a festive touch.
Bring on the Fun- Have a variety of board games, books, dominoes, playing cards and movies ready for those times when your guests need to entertain themselves.
Relax and Enjoy- By planning ahead, preparing in advance you should be able to be out of the kitchen and available to join in on a board game with your family and friends.
I wish you each Happy Thanksgiving and lots of Memories.
