The Happy Grasshopper has asked us what 5 things are we happy about that impacts our business everyday. It might hard to settle on five, but here goes.
One, I am incredibly happy for Active Rain. Active Rain opened my eyes to the many ways I could use the Internet for business and it changed my business model completely. I was on my way to understanding the uses for the Internet through other sources, but Active Rain put that understanding on steroids and cut my learning time down immensely. Thanks Active Rain for being there when I was ready to learn.
Two, I am happy for the digital world that real estate has become. I have always loved technology. I've had an electrical / electronics background since the 1970s. So, moving to a digital world was an easy transition. I do appreciate that I can open doors, pull up data on houses and be in communication with others just about anytime I need to throughout the day. I don't need to chase agents down for keys, carry around huge listing books or try to track down a pay phone when I'm out in the field. It's a great time to be alive and in this business.
Three, I am happy for the extraordinary group of professionals that work with me. That encompasses a wonderful lender and a meticulous closing attorney I work with the most, and it also includes a number of agents I love to have on the other side of a deal. When one of them calls about a possible deal, I know it's going to be a good day.
Four, I am happy for the construction experience I've had over a lifetime. It's rare that I miss something in a home I'm showing to a client. I enter every home with an eye out for quality construction. If I see it, I point it out. If I see something else, I also point it out. I want my clients to get the best home they can afford. Some homes have big problems and some have minor problems that can be fixed easily. I want them to know what they're looking at on each one.
Five, I'm happy to be healthy and strong enough to keep the pace of this business. Real estate can be all consuming at times. It takes stamina and a sharp mind to be on top of things. There are few weeks where I can just slide along (though I appreciate them). The majority of time I have a dozen balls in the air and all of them are important.
There are so many other things I'm happy for such as an understanding and loving family, good vehicles, great clients, encouraging friends, a comfortable bed, plenty of opportunities, etc., but the first five are the ones that I interact with nearly everyday.
