Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I wanted to get the word out about some of these amazing events in the Portland Metro Area. For residents that aren’t planning on cooking your own Thanksgiving feast, check out the Oregon Live list of Portland restaurants that will be serving up holiday specials! For a free community feast, stop by Baker Prairie Middle School in Canby on November 21st at 5pm. They will be serving up Mexican birria as well as other, more traditional Thanksgiving fare in an event hosted by Bridging Cultures.
Before all the Thanksgiving dinner guilt, you may want to start the day off right by running off some extra calories at the 2015 Oregon Turkeython! And, if you are looking to unwind after the holiday, consider touring Oregon's beautiful vineyards and wineries in stunning Willamette Valley with a Wine Country Thanksgiving. The three day event will feature special tastings, live music and food at some of the region's most prestigious vineyards!
However, don't forget this holiday season to think of others in your community that may be needing additional help or support. Consider volunteering or donating to Operation Homefront, Meals on Wheels, or a local Food Bank and Soup Kitchen such as Yamhill Community Action Partnership. Get involved and help feed Oregon's families! No one should go hungry this Thanksgiving!!
