After the Hidden Pines fire here in Bastrop the community began to regroup and assess losses.  Approximately 70 homes were lost in this last  fire. One of them was my husband's right hand man Rick.

Rick is  61. He is a craftsman woodworker and he had been building his home on the land he owns little by little, as he could afford it, so that when he retired he would have a home free and clear.  It was about 60 percent finished when the fire swept through.  He lost everything but his truck and his two dogs.  One of his three cats perished the other two were lucky enough to get out of harms way.

My husband and I know a couple who build containder homes here in Texas - Campco.  They were able to find us a container on a budget for Rick to use as temporary housing while he works on the container to transform it in to a finished living space.  Rick has been living in a tent on his land since he was allowed to go back in once the fire was out.  I can't imagine living in a tent during our recent torrential rains but Rick just wanted to be "home".  The container will afford him a dry spot and something to focus on and rebuild.

Niether my husband or I have the where with all to  just buy the container outright,  and gift it to Rick, at a purchase price of  4k, so we started a Go Fund Me site to raise the funds needed for Rick.  Our goal is 10k and we have raised about 1300.00 so far.  We have taken that balance, and picked up the difference, and got the container delivered yesterday. Now we are looking for donations to help Rick buy construction materials to finish the container out.

We could sure use some financial help for Rick, even small donations of $5-10.  They add up.  Thanks in advance!
