Remember when

all screw heads were the same?

I came across this one yesterday, I had never seen one like this. I understand the need for different heads in some applications but there seems to be way too many out there today.

I didn't have the right tool but creativity prevailed and I got it off.

Good afternoon Tom,

Yes there are way to many different screws and it pays to be creative sometimes before our own screws come loose.

Make yourself a great day.

The one I can't figure out is the oldest, the slot head screw, Tom Arstingstall, General Contractor, Dry Rot, Water Damage Sacramento, El Dorado County - (916) 765-5366 . Why that was not discontinued a century ago I will never know. I love the square bit ones the best. I look at the one you have pictured and all you can say is "Y" (which is what I think it's actually called).

That is also a new one to me...I think that tool manufacturers come of with these designs to sell more tools

Tom - Yeah, it's pretty bad when you go to Lowe's or Home Depot to find a screw, and out of the thousands they carry, you can't find the one you need.

Tom - I have found that on cars much of the time.  You could not possibly possess all of the tools needed for the different screws, nuts, and bolts.

Tom, Awhile back I bought a pack of bits that had tons of strange drivers, probably has one in there for that one too (if I had any idea where I put that pack!).  But WHY someone would have designed one that way is beyond me, especially since I think this is just the cover for where the power supply line goes into a water heater?
