Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty

I would never call myself the tidiest person in the world, but I made some changes to my office over the weekend and I am feeling excited about it. It is unbelievable how much the space around you transforms your level of productivity. I am wondering what has taken me so long to make these changes! Here are some questions that I encourage everyone to ask themselves - if you find yourself needing to transform your office space, read on!

-Would you rather stand up or sit down? I, for one, cannot sit down for more than an hour at a time. I switched out my previous desk for a tall one that is half the width and allows me to stand up while I work. Everyone is different, though. My assistant is perfectly content with sitting down all day and prefers to do so. Now that I have my tall desk, I am already much more comfortable and think that I will be more efficient, as well.

-Do you have papers scattered everywhere? I did. You might say that I was a paper hoarder, but I have now fixed that problem. I added a shelf above my assistant's computer and got her an assortment of binders. I thought about my random and chaotic assortment of papers and grouped them into six categories. I then holepunched each paper, grouped them, and placed them in each binder. My random and chaotic assortment of papers now have a method to their madness!

-Are your walls bare or decorated? I have a collage of my daughter above my desk as well as a few quotes and important messages that keep me motivated.

Your office is your second home, in some sense, so make it aesthetically pleasing! Ask yourself what your preferences are and what kind of environment you prefer to be in and MAKE THE CHANGES. Once you do, you will not regret it! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders- organization really does do wonders.

I would like to hear from the Activerain community- what are your office maintanence secrets? What kind of environment allows you to be most productive?

Friday is my clean up the office day. I make it a point to dedicate the end of the week to clear clutter, polish my desk and have a clean and organized slate to start the week. Always makes me feel great and super productive.

I saw your name as a new "follower" to my blog. Thank you! I'm like you, I can't sit very long and love the stand up desks.

It is amazing how many folks have taken the approach, at the office, to stand up rather than sit down.  I do find myself, when talking on an ear piece or cell phone, to walk around the office to discuss things.  Good topic, .
