Consider Curb Appeal When Remodeling

By

When doing exterior remodeling to your home always think about what home buyers may desire if you were to sell your home.  If you are not sure, recommend talking to friends and professionals about your remodeling ideas.  With home prices rising in some areas, you want to get the best return on your investment when you need or decide to sell.  Sometimes small remodeling changes will improve the resale value of your home.  Another consideration a seller needs to understand and be realistic about, is whether their property is located in a rapidly inflating area.  Being aware of this fact, allows the seller to plan a remodeling project that will net the best return on investment when selling.  The object is not to avoid remodeling, but invest wisely.  When planning remodeling, determine your primary objective, is it to enjoy living in your home, or make it appealing to home buyers?  If you are remodeling to appeal to homebuyers there is always risk involved.  You must make the right remodeling decisions.   Start with repairs that must be completed, such as roof replacement.  House buyers expect main components of a house to be in good working condition.  Some repairs need to be completed in order for some buyers to acquire certain type of loans to purchase the property.  If major items are not in need of repair, select smaller updates that may improve your curb appeal, such as: replacing front door, garage door, windows, new welcome floor mat, potted plants with color, and power washing, etc.

Good morning, John Watts curb appeal is most important...."the eye buys" and if the outside isn't appealing, they may not want to see the inside....

I agree with all of these suggestions for home improvement and curb appeal. It is so important to think ahead and make improvements that will also appeal to buyers if you decide to sell and also should fit into the neighborhood

Curb appeal is a big deal!  Without good curb appeal a buyer may not even take the time to explore the rest of the house.  I always love a new front door, especially red doors.
