Time To Check Those Air Filters
As the temperature start dropping and you consider firing up that heater this winter, look at the air filter to see if it is time to change. It may not look this bad but a clean filter at the beginning of the season can help keep your heating system run well.
Check it before it gets this bad.

I find it's good to get into a habit of regular changes, that way I do not forget to make the changes John McCormack . 
My AC was huffing & puffing until I went and checked the filter. It was long overdue. Replaced it and its like having a new unit. Very important posting here
Like John says, a good time and reminder is to change them at the time change period. That would go for batteries in your clocks, smoke detectors CO monitors... etc, as well.
I was just looking at ours the other day. It's not too bad but I'm going to change them out anyways.
I cleaned mine just yesterday. Air filters should be cleaned or replaced every month during use. In months the system does not run that often of course such maintenance isn't needed.
Tom - that is easily forgotten. I keep the reminder on my calendar and have a box of them in my basement.
