Scottsdale is comprised of ten zip codes and they run the length the city. Today, I wanted to focus on the 85255 zip code.
85255 can be found in North Scottsdale. It is mainly located just north and east of the Loop 101 freeway. It has about 38,000 residents and about 22,000 houses and condos.
Even though there is a lot of development in 85255, there is still also lots of desert terrain. Saguaros, washes and natural vegetation abound. And, if you like desert animals, you will spot bobcats, javelinas, rabbits, coyotes and roadrunners occasionally.
Communities in 85255
85255 is great because it has a healthy mix of homes and condos, making it appealing to full-time residents as well as seasonal residents.
There are several well-known, upscale golf communities there, including DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Desert Highlands, Grayhawk and Troon Village. Each of these communities has a mix of housing options from condos or townhomes up to stunning custom estates on larger lots. Another community of note is Mc Dowell Mountain Ranch to the east. It is a master planned community that also has a golf course.
If you are not looking to live in a large community, there are also many options to choose from. There are smaller neighborhoods like Los Portones as well as standalone homes for sale.
Things to Do in 85255
85255 has a good mix of restaurants, shopping, activities and dining.
DC Ranch Market Street is a collection of upscale restaurants, salons and boutiques. It is a nice area to stroll around. The area around Grayhawk also offers a lot of dining and shopping as well. Two of my favorite places to eat in Grayhawk are Pure Sushi and Kale and Clover. In the Scottsdale Road and Pinnacle Peak area, there are even more dining options like the Brazilian Carvalho's and the neighborhood favorites Jalapenos and JJ's Deli.
If you like hitting the trails, there are excellent opportunities in 85255. Over by DC Ranch and McDowell Mountain Ranch, you can access the Mc Dowell Sonoran Preserve Gateway Trailhead. Open to pedestrians, bikes and horses, the trailhead offers miles and miles of different terrains to explore.
Another place to visit is Mac Donalds Ranch. This 1,300 acre working ranch offers trail rides and lots of seasonal events, like the pumpkin patch. And, in from January to April, the Arizona Fine Art Expo occupies the corner of Scottsdale Road and Jomax.
