Google Changes Will Award Mobile Responsive Site!

By
Real Estate Technology with Real Estate Technology and Marketing

If you weren't conviced on getting a mobile-responsive site before, be prepared to be convinced now. Since this year, Google decided to award mobile responsive real estate websites with better search results.

"we will be expanding our use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal. This change will affect mobile searches in all languages worldwide and will have a significant impact in our search results" (Google). That means mobile-responsive websites will be listed higher up on mobile search results than Non-Responsive agent websites. This is exciting news for those of you with a mobile responsive site!

This is urgent news for those who are still unsure or dragging their feet. That okay. Thats what we are here for. The fact of the matter is: 70 percent of all searches start on a phone or tablet. By being mobile responsive, you will gain higher exposure and increase your chances of being found. You can check to see if a site is mobile-responsive by going to the site on your phone. If part of the website is cut off from the screen, then it is only a desktop version. Mobile-responsive websites generally will have a different layout that is designed to fit phone screens perfectly, easy to view, click, and navigate.

It will be interesting to see how that affects ranking.  I have had a responsive website for 3 years. I  use google analytics and key in on mobile.  Mobile platforms only account for 15% of my traffic.  But a large percentage of my demographic is over 45.  I also get hit with heavy dropoff.  I think it is because of the domain name of esedona.biz.  I think users think the site is for tourism.

I am making a move to change my primary domain to one that reflects exactly what I do.  SellSedona.com.  This should really help moving forward.
