I Present To You...My Wallpaper
Dick Greenberg has given us a wonderful opportunity to share our wallpaper. I was excited to see this contest because I think it gives us a chance to learn more about one another and connect on a different level.
This is the wallpaper on my computer – my grandparents who many of you have seen me write about. We lost my Grandmother in 2014 and my Granddaddy just last month. Their picture is on my computer for a variety of reasons. From a work aspect they remind me to be grateful for what I have and always work hard to better myself. Granddaddy grew up poor and after he served in the Airforce he returned home and opened his own business. My Grandmother raised my Mom and her sister while he was away and always made sure everything at home was running smoothly while he was running the business. They remind me how important family is too. I admire them for their 72 year marriage, it takes teamwork to balance everything and they were always a shining example of that.
The wallpaper on my phone is my two dogs; Walter and Brinks. I look at my phone more than anything and they always make me smile. This was the day I brought Brinks home and he weighed 8lbs – Walter weighs 82lbs and they promptly became best friends. Walter was horribly abused when I adopted him and he is a consistent reminder to never judge a book by its cover. No one wanted him because he was a Pitbull from a fighting ring but, like anything else stereotypes don’t apply to every dog or every person. Walter spent years getting chewed up as the bait dog (bait dogs are used to get the fighting dogs "ready" for their fight). Even after all that he is the most caring and gentle dog. Brinks runs the show and Walter just goes with the flow. He reminds me that there will be struggles but, that it will all workt out.
Wallpaper is very personal and this is what works for me. I want to thank Dick for hosting this contest, I really enjoyed participating but, even more I’m enjoying reading the story behind my AR friend’s wallpaper.
