Cheap Gas...

Mortgage and Lending with US Mortgages - David Shamansky NMLS#392126

Cheap GasYeah there are some things that are too funny to pass up on and others that have a counter side that never gets spoken of.

When at the pump the other day I saw this and was like DAMN gas prices have fallen and that's a good thing for all of us buying gas to fuel our cars and trucks.

Then it hit me that there is a negative side to this however. Many companies have stopped producing the crude oil for refinement due to the prices being so low they cannot make enough money to stay in business. That puts them and all workers out of jobs

When I saw how cheap the gas was I also thought about our leadership... like cheap gas it may look good on surface but there is a lot of stank behind the scenes that many don't know about or ever get the press it deserves to hear about it.

We are a country filled with Cheap Gas???

Hopefully we can hear both sides of a story to make an educated decision and not just the one side some believe is all we are smart enough or need to know.

Just a thought...

It's true. I filled up today for less than $18.00, but there are many who work off-shore that have been laid off.

Wow, thats REALLY cheap gas!! Here in CA, we are thrilled with our $2.79! But its good to think about why and what this means for our economy and the oil industry.

We haven't dropped below $2/gallon. I know what you are talking about ...the negative side to it all. It's a shame.

David as we know it's tied to our economy big time.....we'll see what goes on next. Low prices are good but there is a down side as well.

Like RealtyTech Inc. we are delighted that the premium is at $2.69 with car wash.  It is really a good thing for a lot of the industries, airlines, trucking etc can stock up.  CA has a lot of taxes on top of the gas.  A

David, there is definitely another side.  Sold a custom home to a family who was employed by a oil company.  Hasn't worked in months, and probably will need to sell early this coming year.   Both sides of the coin.

The price of crude certainly has effected things here as we have been the latest oil boom in the US. Lots of layoffs and drilling has almost come to a halt David Shamansky . Last year I did a post suggesting a choice at the pump of foreign oil at one pump or US oil at another for a dollar more. You would think I suggest killing the Pope as hostile as people were for my suggesting it.

David- that's it exactly.  With the price of oil being driven so low by those over there, many of the o&g companies here can no longer afford to drill.  They will go out of business, and the big producers will stop or slow down, and then guess who we will become, once again, dependent upon for oil.  We have to look beyond the short term gain.

That really is cheap gas, David, not like our California prices at all. You touch on an important issue, though; what's good at the pump isn't necessarily all good.

Hi David Shamansky

As all the other comments above from other CA Realtors, our gas is still $2.75 for regular here in southern CA. I always hear on the news how everyone else's prices are low and the Inland Empire is 10-15 cents more. Still I can remember a few months age when the Shell down the street was a $4.89 per gallon. OMG!

David - I am a firm believer that there are people in our government, and in the media, that only show and tell us what they want us to know. There is a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes.

Hi David - It's a very complex situation, and among the effects, it has certainly affected some geopolitical power bases. Another upside is that it isn't going to cost you so much to drive up here - we can spend your money on better beer.

Aloha David, excellent observation. It's amazing how complex the world has become and how somethings seem to be a boon but there is usually a catch.

Hello David ... I have to agree that the gas prices are actually very reasonable and I believe they could even be lower!

It's so sad that Big Oil Companies continue to rape the American Citizens, and don't be fooled by these low gas prices and think they will be like this forever.

Many Americans are purchasing electric cars and the oil companies don't like it so they continue to keep prices down

My next car in the next 2 years will be ELECTRIC

Prices here in the Chicagoland area are not anywhere near that low price, David Shamansky ... taxes, etc. prevent it.  Prices ARE down though ...

Just bought gas for 1.69 a gallon this morning- Gas going up means a lot of minimum pay workers are limited- the economy is better with lower gas prices.  It lowers the price of goods, vacationing, and most expenses.  I truly believe that gas had a huge impact on us in 2008 when we crashed- it made it to a minimum wage worker worked for an hour for 2 gallons of gas...  That is a rough way to live.
