The Gift of Orange Peels

From potpourri pot to stove top, one of the most magical fragrances of fall is FREE if you have some standard spices in your pantry and you save your orange peels!

Whether planning for an open house, a festive family get-together, or if you just wanted to change the atmosphere and lighten the mood around your home, this recipe works wonders. And, it's SO EASY!

Ingredients

Diced orange peel from 1-2 oranges

1 cinamon stick or (1 tsp gound)

12 whole cloves (or 1 tsp ground)

Optional

1 or 2 star anise

1 tsp all spice

3 whole cardamom pods

Instructions

Place ingredients in a potpourri pot (or in a sauce pot on your cooktop / low setting) and cover completely with water.  Simmer. Do not allow potpourri to boil dry. Check water level periodically.

FOR AGENTS ONLY

BONUS GIFTABLES: If you are looking for a seasonal flower-pot or pop-by marketing gift, consider dressing a few teaspoons of your dry mixed ingredients in a 4"x4" gossamer swatch, bundled and cinch with raffia, ribbon, or curling string. Add your business card and/or a CMA, and it's winner-winner chicken dinner! Make sure to give your recipient a copy of the instructions above.

Great idea, Amanda... now if I only bought or ate oranges, this could work well.

Thanks Amanda it would be lovely to have a scent floating in the air this season - especially while decorating and when guests come to visit.

Amanda, after reading your recipe for some seasonal scenting I could see having some orange spice tea tonight to get a head start on warming up for our first snowfall tomorrow.  Have a great weekend with your family and friends!
