Valuable Messages While Waiting On Line...

By
Home Stager with Feng Shui Manhattan Long Island #888

The other day I was standing on line waiting to purchase my groceries at Trader Joe's I had options in how I could utilize my time waiting. One, I could have stared  at the screen on my Iphone. Two, I could have allowed my mind to wonder about with various thoughts. Or three, I could have engaged in a conversation with a complete stranger.

I choose number three and glad I did. Behind me was an elderly lady in her 70's with blue eyes and blond-white hair. We started chatting about what items we purchased and how we will be celebrating Thanksgiving. She then began expressing HOW INTERESTING and FUN LIFE IS. She told me quick stories of how she has done everything in her life that she's ever wanted to do, including flying a plane and traveling all over the world.

"Life is so much fun, it's so interesting, isn't it? I think so. I love all of it, even the challenging moments can bring joy and interest.  Many people walk around with fear and miss out. People need to stop being so afraid." ~ Lady from Trader Joe's

Good morning Laura Cerrano I would have made the same choice. I love striking up a conversation with people in line. I have met some of the most amazing people and heard many incredible stories.

Laura Cerrano - thank you for this post! I think that enjoyment in talking to strangers is part of what makes us love our careers!

Good morning Laura,

One of the biggest fears is to start talking to a stranger or step to the podium in front of a crowd. She sounds like someone to invite to a dineer sometime.

Make yourself a great day.

A great message, Laura. I must admit to being one of those "guilty" people who doesn't talk to strangers. You "took a chance" and got a good one!

Raymond E. Camp ~ hi Ray, I'll get up at a podium any day of the week in front of hundreds of people (and have done) with no fear. Talk one on one to a stanger--not so much.

But for most the first time was scary; I always engage new people and remember my first speaking engagement that are now like putting on a pair of socks.
