The holiday season has finally hit us, and with Thanksgiving just a few days away, we’re looking forward to spending time with family, friends, and loved ones. To make the most of your weekend, we’ve curated a short list of activities, events, and ways to give back on Thanksgiving Day.

If there’s something missing from this list that you’d like to share, write a comment and we’ll add it to our calendar.

With Thanks,

Get into the holiday spirit by dropping off food or supplies to a food bank in Seattle/King County. Here’s a comprehensive list.

REI is doing the impossible on one of the biggest shopping days of the year: they’re closing all 143 of their stores on Black Friday, and paying their employees to enjoy the outdoors.

We love the idea of spending the day breathing in fresh air, and the weather is calling for plenty of sun! For more information, check out the site.  Need inspiration for a winter hike? Here are a few favorites from the Washington Trails Association

It’s the start of the holiday season and Seattle kicks it off with Magic in the Market – a family-friendly start to the holiday season where kids can decorate gingerbread cookies, take free photos with santa, and watch the lighting of the 20-foot holiday tree and lights throughout the market at 5pm.

Star Wars Gingerbread Houses:

You read that correctly! Stop by Sheraton Seattle’s Star Wars themed gingerbread village to appreciate the craftsmanship and detail that goes into these creations. Free to the public, with donations that go to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Local Holiday Craft Fair:

Looking for a unique gift for the holidays? Make sure to check out the Seattle Bizarre Bazaar on Sunday 11/29 from 1-6PM. Shop for unique housewares, jewelry, clothing, stationary, and more.
