Do you know Civil War History in Maryland?
Long ago, I wrote some blogs that included information on the Civil War activities in Poolesville, Maryland. That may why I received this very interesting message on ActiveRain on 11/25/2015.
If you have the knowledge to respond to this message, please send an email directly to Bob Pickles with a copy to me at roykelley@mris.com.
Hi, I'm an English historical novels writer working currently on an Antietam story. Can you advise me of any actual Union units posted in or around Poolesville at the time of Lee's crossing of the Potomac 4-7th Sep 1862 up to the Confederate evacuation of Frederick. (Were the 87th Ohio placed thereabouts? I need to place a character who could have feasibly fired potshots at the White's Ford crossing or handled a prisoner in Poolesville at the time. What Union units might have been in Poolesville a few days after the Antietam battle? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Bob Pickles, Manchester, England
