Thanksgiving used to be my favorite holiday, no press, just joy, good food and company. Things changed in 1991 when I lost my Mom on Thanksgiving. For years I just avoided the day, traveled anywhere to be away. It isn't possible to forget but I avoided.
Today I am home and choosing to remember a different day, one that was filled with gratitude and love. One year, after my Dad's passing, my Mom and I spent a nice day at a local Irish restaurant. It is a bittersweet memory but a good one and today I will remember that day. Happy Thanksgiving.
