Thanksgiving is one of those uniquely American holidays.
It's a day to spend with your family and friends... gather them around, and hold them closely.
And what better way to gather them around, than at a festive meal.
Sure, someone will be snotty, someone will say something rude, or mean. Someone will show up late, or wear something inappropriate.
Someone will drink too much, or sulk too much, or just be so anxious that the room starts to vibrate.
There will be gossip, and cross-talk, and discussiongs of family events gone by, and upcoming trips.
And if you're truly unfortunately, someone will whip out their cell phone and show you several hundred photos of their most recent trip, or their new grandchild.
But in the end, this is family. These are the people who love you unconditionally... and this is what we do.
Gather ye rosebuds while ye may... for anon the blooms will be off the rose, and gone forever.
