I often watch the squirrels outside my window and wish I had an office full of employees that worked as hard as squirrels do!
But in December I notice they work extra hard at finding food and hiding it for the cold days ahead when they will be hungry, knowing that winter is not the ultimate time to get new food.
What does this have to do with your business you wonder? Well there is a good chance that not many buyers have time to buy in December, and few sellers prefer to have buyers trample through their home over the holidays. Therefore many agents relax, shop, clean, and take time off.
But what if you took a page from the squirrels? What if you warked hard this month gathering and hiding your food for January and February? How successful would you be then? So here is an idea for you-think like a squirrel in December!
How? Well, make contact with all past clients from the beginning of your time in real estate with an email, a call, a flyer, something. Purge your address book, write blogs, update your website. Send out reminders to all this years sales about tax writeoffs of home purchases. Don't send Christmas cards, but be different and send out New Year cards.
If you don't hide your food for the winters' cold, what will you eat in February? Take a lesson from the squirrels and work on this winter's leads now!
