This is very cool.  I have always loved bridges.  They can have so much meaning as your Friendship Bridge does.

I was thinking the other day as I crossed over a bridge in the Delta that how much fun it would be to visit old bridges and photograph them. I feel obligated to shoot photos of bridges whenever I spot an extraordinary bridge, and the Friendship Bridge in Huntsville is a lovely example, due in part to its history and connection to the people of Huntsville.

Its interesting but many of us, myself included, are drawn to bridges as subjects for photos. I too love them and old barns...the more dilapidated the better. this one seems to have great history !

What a great idea! I think every major city should have a friendship bridge or at the very least something unique that sets that city apart. Yours appears to be very friendly and diverse and I positively love the idea!!!

Yep, both parents were ill, my dad passed away and now I'm laid up 4 weeks after foot surgery and 2 more weeks till I can walk again. Glad to see you and all my friends still hanging in the Rain.

Nice story about the bridge came to be. Probably a good reminder for all the military in the area. I read up on the Redstone Arsenal and it is sure a place that does quite a few not so friendly function to help guard us all. cheers cvc

Hi Nick T Pappas - That's a great Friendship Bridge! Does the City decorate it for parades or holidays? I'm guessing many people stop and take photos of themselves or just the bridge - it's so beautiful and the thoughtfulness behind it is something to appreciate.
