Don't Even Bother With "Happy Thanksgiving."

Reblogger Patricia Kennedy
Real Estate Agent with RLAH@properties AB95346

OK, I'm still deleting the 1300 excess emails that came in wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving.  But it's not too late to heed Greg's pleas for Christmas and New Years!

Original content by Greg Nino 0524642

It's that time of year again. Thanksgiving, Christmas and all the other Holidays that are what real memories are made of. Kind of.

Each year I get a dozen or so Holiday cards in the mail. They bring happiness to my heart when compared to the countless spam emails I get from companies wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. If you can't say it in person or in the form of a card or "personal email" then do yourself a favor and don't pretend you touched all your friends, colleagues (because they may not be friends) and your clients by blasting them with stale and cheap template Happy Thanksgiving.

It doesn't work and it touches no one. The lonely probably don't even open it.

It's like offering a homeless man a book to read instead of a cheeseburger. It's like telling your kids they don't need to see a firework show in person when they can watch it on television. No, it's like sitting on the couch with your kids and texting, "I love you" instead of saying it where they can hear you.

Don't make your feelings look cheap this year.

Great post, and my thoughts exactly. That is why my whole life I have always tried to send holiday cards, Birthday cards, and thank you cards. If I can't take the time to really say "thank you", or "happy holiday" by writing out, and sending a real card, then why bother.

I agree with Michael, interesting post.  I know my email and texts on my phone blew up on thanksgiving.

The same applies to Xmas cards. For some reason I do not care for the electronic version.  I like a card with a couple of lines or a newsletter....

I'm with you, Patricia. Not only are they meaningless, I actually find canned "wishes" to be rude. Delete, delete, delete

I will be sending lots of handwritten notes in the next two weeks. I know they will mean something to me and hope that the recipients will appreciate them too.

I would not mention that, but I did delete most of those emails without opening them. And I did not send mass emails myself....too spammy, seems we all receive hundreds of them these days.

Nice choice for a reblog, as I didn't get a chance to read it previously.  I would have to agree and I have never enjoyed receiving such things, so I don't send such things either.

Hi Patricia... I'm totally with you in this regard. I can't tell you the number of Thanksgiving Day wishes I received by email last week and I have no idea of who these agents, lenders, etc. are.

Patricia - Thank goodness I didn't get anything near 1,300 junk emails wishing me a Happy Thanksgiving. That would have really put me in a bad mood.

Great re-post Patricia Kennedy .   Michael has the right idea; if you can't make it personal, don't waste the time and paper.
