I don't know when it happened or why, but as I wrap the things I have bought for gifts, it struck me I have had enough of this. I love the spirit of the holidays but I already have too much stuff and I think it would be better to allocate the money I usually spend on this by having dinner with a friend or making a contribution to a charity I support. Things don't matter as much as they once did and I think it is good to live with less and experience more.
Sheila-one year our family members decided to give each other consumable gifts. The kids still got toys but the adults received gift certificates to restaurants or gift basekts.

Hi Kathy. That is something that is good. For me however, it is more and I will act in consort hereafter. I'm a slow learner I guess. TY Sheila
Hi Karen. I used to feel that way too, but am looking to simplify now. I would rather buy a friend dinner than give a gift. We could both enjoy that, or a movie or a day trip. TY Sheila
Hi Sheila Anderson , It seems that the older we get, the more we change our views on how we celebrate the holidays.

We are loosing sight of the meaning of Christmas . . . . It's not about the shopping.
Good luck and success.

I totally agree with your sentiment, Sheila! The more I shuffle through life, the more I understand that less is often more!

Good Tuesday morning Sheila Anderson -
I totally agree in that less is more. Thankfully we have enough sense not to be into all the hype of keeping up with the Jones. We keep it simple and real. We did mail off the kiddos Christmas gifts via FedEx yesterday but we kept that down to a mild roar as well.

I like Alexandra's comment. Experience is much more important than stuff.

"Stuff" is just that, stuff. But the love and friendship we can all share during the holidays is what really counts Sheila Anderson
