There are two major hospitals less than 5 miles from the Downtown as well a Metropolitan Market grocery store and many unique, locally owned shops and restaurants. The new Kirkland Urban shopping center is now under construction and will have everything from a pharmacy to a local coffee shop, a locally owned seafood store, a multiplex cinema and a QFC. In the evenings you will want to take a walk down to enjoy dinner at Trellis at the Heathman or Hector's, a great neighborhood joint that has been around for 39 years. In the summer, Marina Park in Downtown Kirkland is the place to be! Bring your picnic blanket, grab a gyro at Santorini Greek Grill and find your place on the lawn to enjoy the live music in the park each Thursday night. Kirkland is also home to Tech giants, Bluetooth SIG, Google, Bungie and Tableau Software. It's not uncommon to see neighbors you know while out in the local scene. People enjoy living here because it's far enough from the main hustle and bustle of Seattle and Bellevue that residents don't feel like the urban center of the big city is knocking on their door.
