Let’s Go Horseback Riding

I’ve loved horses ever since I was little, so it’s no surprise that horseback riding is one of my favorite outdoor activities. Lucky for us, Arizona is full of numerous trails and terrains that are perfect for horseback riding. A lot of them are located in the East Valley, only minutes away from Ahwatukee, Chandler, Gilbert, and Mesa. Here are a few of my favorite horseback riding adventures in the East Valley.

Arizona-Horses.com

Arizona-Horses.com is a great way to explore South Mountain on horseback. Their trails allow you to enjoy some of the best scenic views of the mountain. Their guided tours are perfect for riders of any skill level, and the guides are extremely knowledgeable about the local wildlife. Tours can last anywhere from one to eight hours, and they even have special breakfast, lunch, dinner, and sunset rides. Arizona-Horses doesn’t have any weight or height requirements, but they recommend children should be at least six years old.

(you may even see some wild horses hanging out too-took these myself)

The Stables at Fort McDowell Adventures

The Stables at Fort McDowell is located around Fountain Hills, so it may take you 30-45 minutes to drive from Ahwatukee, Chandler, or Gilbert. Trust me—it’s worth the drive. These trails contain some breathtaking views. I highly recommend bring a camera. They are open Mondays-Saturdays, sunrise to sunset. This is quite the Southwest experience, and you’re sure to see plenty of native wildlife and plant life. The Stables even offer a cool City Slicker Cattle Drive, which is a designed ride for groups of 10 or more.

MD Ranch

MD Ranch offers great horseback riding right here in the East Valley. This Queen Creek adventure allows you to explore the wonders of San Tan Mountain while enjoying nature at its finest. And what’s even better, right now they have a fantastic Groupon offer. For only $52 for two people, or $102 for four, you get a one-hour horseback ride around the Sonoran Desert. This is great for first-time riders or people looking to experience something new. If you buy this on Groupon, just note that you have 120 days to redeem it.
