As real estate agents we often donate our time and money to charitable causes that benefit our community in one way or another.
Every spring we join in with Keller Williams agents nationwide on one day, Red Day, dedicated to making a difference in our communities. These hands on project days have been very gratifying, and gratefully received.
We donate to Turkeys for All, RPAC, buy Christmas gifts for foster kids, organize food drives for the food bank, and do pro bono work for underprivileged. We feel blessed and grateful to be in a position to share, and share we do.
Although opportunities to serve and donate are on our calendar all year around, nothing has been more pure fun than to man the Salvation Army red kettles in December! Being a bell ringer and greeting passersby as they come and go with a cheery greeting, well it's just plain FUN!
REALTOR® Ring Day is an annual event that brings thousands of realtors to red kettles all over the country to collect donations that support local Salvation Army housing programs and more. Rick and I had an opportunity today to take a shift outside of Fred Meyer. We didn't see anyone we know coming or going while we rang the bells, but we did make a lot of new friends. What fun it is to see smiles appear on grumpy faces when given a cheerful greeting!
If your association doesn't yet participate in REALTOR® Ring Day, I highly recommend you look into bringing it to your town. It's particularly appropriate in that the funds raised go towards services for homeless, and every dime raised stays in the local community.
