Selling a Central Florida home? Remember, clean often forgotten areas

When you're living in your Central Florida home while trying to keep it in "Show ready" condition it's easy to focus on the most obvious areas to clean while overlooking others that are equally important. Potential buyers "see" more than do those who live in a home, simply because they haven't seen it thousands of times before. And… they do look up, down, and inside, so be sure to check these details:

  • Your welcome mat. Your buyers have plenty of time to notice this while their agent gets your door open. Make sure they're looking at a clean mat – or even better, a brand new one.
  • The top of the refrigerator. You may be too short to see it – your prospective buyers may be tall.
  • Inside the dishwasher, oven and microwave – and around the stove burners. Yes, even if some of these items don't stay, their state of cleanliness adds to the overall impression of care and maintenance.
  • Ceiling fan blades. You may not have looked up there lately and seen those clumps of dust bunnies, but your buyers will!
  • Light bulbs, lampshades, and light covers. You want cleanliness to assure all the light you can get, and you don't want anyone to look up and view bugs in the light fixtures. Remember the porch light, too!
  • Door frames, doors, switch plates, and cabinet fronts. In other words, all those places where fingerprints like to leave oily residue. If you're using your house, these need to be checked every day or two.
  • Sliding door tracks. Someone sadistic must have designed those things, because they're "dirt and bug traps" of the first order. Vacuum the tracks regularly, then scrub off whatever grime is left. This is another area that needs to be checked every day or two. Even if you aren't using the doors, dead bugs can still gather there.

Keeping your Central Florida home show-ready is not an easy task, so tend to these details and give your house that added burst of appeal - so it will sell faster and you can relax!
