Fewer people are looking to buy houses, therefore there is less competition which gives the buyer leverage over his or her preferred house. Holiday home sellers often have to adjust their price downward or make other concessions if they want to sell.

    With very few buyers, sellers compete with each other to get your attention. Winter sellers are also more motivated to sell due to special circumstances, like job relocation or divorce. You may be able to use this urgency or special circumstances to your advantage.

    All parties involved in the transaction are more motivated to close faster towards the end of the year. Lenders want to close their books, real estate agents want to receive their commissions before the year closes, and buyers and sellers want to settle in their new homes. It is easier to put everything in place for a smooth and rapid closing because all parties are motivated.
