Paying it Forward in ActiveRain
Belinda Spillman has challenged ActiveRain bloggers to share ways that we have paid it forward to impact the lives of others.
During my many years in the business world, I have been involved in countless community and industry activities. I have served as president of a Lions Club that provided many services. I am a past president of a regional builders association where I was in leadership roles to develop a successful scholarship foundation and a very successful apprenticeship program. I have served on the board of directors of a regional community college and have done much through chamber of commerce organizations.
For the purposes of this challenge, I would like to focus on some of the things that I have done and you can do to create positive relationships and to brighten the days of other members of ActiveRain.
I make it a habit to welcome and follow a minimum of five new members each day. This information is found on the Social Roster. Many new members need encouragement to write that first blog to to begin their networking with other members.
I have tried to reciprocate with comments. If you leave a comment on one of my blogs, I will make an effort to comment on your current blog if one is posted. Further, I will 'like' the blog and follow you as well.
There is no practical reason to limit the number of members that you follow and I follow several thousand members. Following other members is a very easy way to pay it forward.
My regular schedule of blogs will normally include two reblogs each day. A reblog provides extra exposure for those members and the information is shared with a larger audience. If you do not wish for your public readers to see a reblog, you are able to post it for members only viewing.
When I visit the Q&A section to try to answer twenty questions each day, I also make it a habit to 'like' the question and to upvote many of the other answers.
Blogger Bob Crane has commented that he likes to spread points among the other members. I share his philosophy that creating more points for other members is a very good way to pay if forward on a regular basis.
Positive networking and the daily learning experience are among the benefits of being active in ActiveRain. Let's continue make those small efforts to let others know that we appreciate their efforts.
Best wishes to all for a Happy New Year!
