Jazz fans are in for a treat Thursday night at the Dallas Jazz Piano Society Concert. World class pianist Dave Zoller and Evidence will perform Zoller's personal arrangements of Thelonious Monk's music.
Early in his life, Zoller was drawn to Monk's music. Zoller formed the band, Evidence, with Monk's music in mind. Aaron Irwinski, saxophonist, is a graduate of UT Arlington graduate. Irwinski played with the UTA Jazz Ensemble. Drummer Woody Berner, studied at University of North Texas where he played with the popular One O'clock Lab Band. Jeffry Eckels, bassist, has performed with Antonio Sanchez, Ernie Watts, Roscoe Mitchell and many other well know musicians.
All profits from this concert benefit the Keys for Kids Program. Electric keyboards are loaned to students and an instructor is provided by the Jazz Society. Applicants five years through high school are referred by nonprofit organizations and local churches.
Dallas is fortunate to have an outstanding Jazz community, with an enormous heart.
