Book Review - Uncover Your Calling WORK Re-imagined by Richard J Leider and David A. Shapiro - This past weekend I was watching a public television show that was hosted by Richard Leider and I was Work Reimaginedhooked on everything he was saying, it was like he was speaking only to me, even though he had  a very large audience. So i did a little research and found a few of his books and picked up the first one I could get my hands on - Uncover your Calling, Work Re-imagined, and it was everything I had hoped it would be and then some.

In the show I was watching Richard grabbed my attention by talking about a simple little "Napkin test" which I will share with you now - grab a piece of paper and write down this simple formula G+P+V=C, or Gifts + Passion + Values = Calling

I think most of us question what we are all about and what our career paths should really look like, did we choose the right path or are we just venturing towards the next thing. This book really helped me to clarify several things that I have pondered over the years and it also helped me to realize that the direction I am headed is by my own design and it is my true calling. That will be another post in the very near future.

The book was a wonderful read and offered hands on ideas to really see if you are on the right path, and if not, perhaps some ideas to figure out what that might look like, or to divulge secrets within your current path that are actually related to your calling, and all you need to do is bring that out.

I used to think that the difference between a highly successful person and one that was just getting by was "belief in oneself" to accomplish anything they set out to accomplish, and that definitely goes a long way, but the more I study and learn the traits of highly successful people, it is more and more apparent that they have found their true calling.

I am giving Uncover Your Calling WORK Re-imagined a $$$$$ rating, this is a must have for your library and a book I will refer to often

I rate books with a $-$$$$$ rating based on how valuable the book is to my business and how valuable I feel it is to the audience.

• $$$$$ means that the book is a must have for any library and a good book to refer to anytime you need sound advice

• $$$$- means that the book is very good and worth reading

• $$$- means there may be a few nuggets of information, and if you can’t find something else to do go ahead and read this book

• $$- do not waste your time

• $- I am sorry I wasted my time and be thankful you saw this book review before wasting yours

***Over the years I have taken pride in the fact that I have been able to read a book a week (the past couple years I have been busier and only able to read about a book a month). One of my good friends commented that all  I ever give are $$$$ or $$$$$ ratings, and asked if I ever read bad books, my answer is "very rarely, one of the nice things about reading good books is they almost always recommend other good books to read and I heed that advice."
