How REALTORS® Can Manage Their Time During the Holidays

By
Real Estate Technology with IXACT Contact Real Estate CRM

As a REALTOR®, do you ever feel like you’re jogging on a treadmill with no chance to catch your breath? If we’re right, that’s probably how you feel during the spring and summer, but not so much during the winter. This time of year, you may be struggling to continue generating leads.

With that in mind, it’s important to make some adjustments to your time management strategies between summer and winter. You need to make some changes if you want business to pick up during the holidays. Use these tips as a guide to better manage your time when things aren’t quite so busy.

  1. Map out your holiday marketing initiatives ahead of time.

Do you have certain tactics you want to employ during the holidays to keep yourself top of mind among prospects and past clients? Here’s a fabulous list of new ideas to use. Just make sure you’re planning out your strategy early enough so you’re not rushing to get the materials you need at the last minute. Start as early as you can.
  2. Shift your working hours if needed.

Normally, your contacts might be most available after traditional work hours. During the holidays, however, this could differ because many people have gift shopping, family gatherings and cooking to do during that time. Be open to changing your working hours to best complement what works for your clients and prospects. If you prepare in advance for this shift in your real estate working hours, your time will be better managed come the holidays.
  3. Make an effort to be more organized.

Now that things have slowed down a bit, now is the perfect time to get organized on your end. Maybe that means preparing your budget, considering your social media strategy or cleaning up your list of contacts. It’s also a great time to consider what real estate contact management tools would work for you and learn how to get started with them for the New Year.
  4. Game plan new ways to stay connected to your contacts.

It’s good to refresh your marketing initiatives every now and then, and a slow time of year is an opportune time to do so. Take a look at your current activities and platforms – is there anything that can be improved? For instance, maybe you can employ email drip campaigns to send timely, relevant emails to your real estate contacts throughout the year. Some products, like IXACT Contact’s CRM, come preloaded with this feature.
  5. Use this slow time to sharpen yourself for the upcoming year.

Anything you do to improve yourself may also help improve your business. It’s important to manage your time in a way that keeps you proactive and productive, but also keeps you from experiencing burnout. Take a moment this time of year to take a step back, look at all you’ve accomplished and pat yourself on the back. Spend time with loved ones. Read a good book. Do whatever you can to strengthen your mind and it will surely help strengthen your real estate business come the New Year.

One thing is certain, it is a challenging time of year with lots of planning,  lists,  unexpected client requests, and holiday activities.  Somehow, it always works out.

Getting organized has always been a challenge.  I always say I'm an "organized mess" -- I wish I could just stop the world from turning for about a month so I can sort all of this stuff out!  In the meantime, I am looking forward to the holidays, spending time with my family in Arizona for a few days (great to get away from the cold of Wisconsin) and then starting out the New Year taking some of the steps you have recommended.  Thanks!
