Scottsdale is a city that is 31 miles long and up to 11 miles wide. It is made up of ten zip codes. In this post, I wanted to focus on 85262.
85262 is a large zip code that occupies the farthest north section of Scottsdale. It is bordered by the Tonto National Forest to the north and east and the town of Carefree to the west. It has about 11,000 residents and about over 7,000 houses and condos.
Since it is further north and much of it is made up of mountainous terrain, 85262 can be a little cooler than some of the other parts of the Phoenix Valley. You will see lots of natural desert and desert landscaping in this area. Plus, the mountains and hills lend themselves to some spectacular views over the desert terrain or of twinkling city lights.
There is not as much development in 85262 as there is in other parts of Scottsdale, but there are still many options to dine and shop in the area.
Communities in 85262
85262 is known for some of Scottsdale's top golf communities. Some of the most noted ones are Desert Mountain, with its six Jack Nicklaus courses, Troon North, home to the famous and challenging Pinnacle and Monument Courses, Mirabel, Estancia and Legend Trail.
However, besides living in one of these communities, there are plenty of options to own standalone homes or live in smaller neighborhoods. And, as you head east, there are many horse properties on larger parcels.
Things to Do in 85262
While 85262 does not have a large number of restaurants and shopping areas, its proximity to Scottsdale Road and Carefree and Cave Creek means you are just minutes away from what you need.
One of the top restaurants in 85262 is Sassi in the Troon area. Serving classic and delicious Italian fare, Sassi is a destination in and of itself. As you head a little further north toward the Troon North area, there are more dining options including the Rare Earth Pizza and Wine Bar and the Pony Express Cafe. And, if you are a member of one of the golf clubs, dining options are also available within your community.
Like to hike? 85262 is home to Pinnacle Peak, one of my favorite local hikes and a visual landmark in the area. Cyclists also enjoy 85262 for its beautiful terrain.
