For plenty of people, Christmas is the time of year that many host parties, small or big, for their friends and family. A Christmas themed table is a fun way to create that festive mood during your holiday occasion. There is no one way to decorate your table for the holidays, but thousands. There are countless websites and pinterest boards dedicated to Christmas themed decorating ideas. If you are new to this concept or just looking for some fresh ideas, hopefully this blog can help out.
To start, if you choose to use a table cloth (many don't), then there are so many fun ways to go. Of course a festive Christmas-themed table cloth is always a choice and a great one. But if you are looking for a more elegant, muted melody for your table, then why not pick a solid color and let the decorations speak for themselves. For example, a red table cloth adorned with candles, holly, ornaments, etc.
The place settings can also be matched, or simply color coordinated, or completely mismatched with a similar theme. Such as a patterned plate on top of a solid color plate, or a Santa plate matched with a reindeer plate. Same goes with the napkins.
The centerpiece of the table is what brings all of the decorations together. This is where you can get really creative. Visit your nearest crafts store such as Michaels and peruse the Christmas section. You can get crafty with all sorts of items. Cranberries, candles, candy canes, cheap bought-in-bulk ornaments, pine cones, ribbon, holly, and fake or real flowers just to a name a few. Or any festive knickknacks you have laying around would work; like your snowman collection, or nativity scene. Grab a tiered display or a large holiday platter and arrange the cranberries around the candles, or lay down holly and dot with candy canes. There are thousands of ways to go.
So embrace your creative side! To help those of us that are less fortunate with the gift of imagination, here are a few great sources to get ideas:
