It is extremely easy to get distracted during this month, even some of last month with all of the joy, love, thankfulness, celebrating and gratitude and just like slip off and fa la la la la. However if you are in sales, and your livelihood comes from commission sales, it is almost too late to do what you should have been doing the entire last month of the year.
When a person says, call me after the first of the year, those words I have heard hundreds of times over the past 36 years it primarily means, they are what I would call gamblers, they really are not going to do anything 2.5 weeks from now any more than they are today.
The way to handle those six words, is: Let's do this go ahead and set an appointment for January 4th or would the 6th work better for you? And now you have an appointment instead of a call me later, and if they will not set that appointment, recognize they were not going to do anything when you would have waited to call after the first of the year, either.
Just yesterday I set two appointments, for people who want to sell their house. One is making mortgage payments on two homes and is moving out of town, one is leaving the state March 1st when I spoke with both of those people, they did not say call me next week or after the first of the year. One attempted to have me call in a week, and I just said hocus pocus, and they said ok, and we set the appointment for this coming Monday. Having a couple of transactions closing in the first two weeks of January also enhances the thoughts of a successful 2016 also.
Some people should realize sales is just not their cup of tea, and move to something else. I do not know how to snow ski, water ski, roller skate, swim, but I can shoot a gun, know my math well, and like helping people accomplish their goals when selling or buying a house, just simple, politeness, caring, listening, asking questions and complete honesty.
