Orange is the “Must Have” this Season!: Realtor Safety Tip

Orange is the “Must Have” this Season!

This is not fashion advice but a safety tip for showing properties during hunting season. When going to vacant land there can be an UNSAFE assumption by buyers and sometimes agents that they can view the property anytime and not let anyone know that they are there especially if they have seen it before. There is a very GOOD reason to ALWAYS call ahead because there may be hunters who have leased the property and are not expecting you to come while they are trying to get that big buck. Even if you have let the listing agent know you should still wear Blaze Orange and recommend or bring something for your buyers to wear as well. In rural areas hunters can be most anywhere during the season so even if the tract you are showing isn’t being leased the one next too it may be.

Here is to a Safe and Successful Sale!

It's always tragic to hear of someone shooting a person, friend, or fellow hunter because they saw movement and "thought it was a buck".

Good idea to wear the orange when you are out in the woods!

Good post - happily in Bethesda MD and DC there aren't many deer hunters roaming the streets.

As a guy who lives in Pugetopolos (Seattle area) wearing an orange vest for the reasons you write about today never ever crossed my mind. Yet, I have friends on rural properties where there is hunting... In the city I am happy to see that more and more bicycle riders are wearing orange vests and hats. Congrats on your feature in Kathy Streib's "Ah-ha moment" post this morning!

I actually saw hunters on MY land thanks to that bright outerwear! I need to get that for running on the back-country old logging roads...it would help as we have (stupid) hunters here.

Excellent advice Larry Atkins .   Here in the foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains, there is a lot of natural land and hunters are everywhere.
