The Quarry Creek Neighborhood in Carlsbad CA
December 2015 Update
Progress continues at the Quarry Creek neighborhood in northeast Carlsbad, south of the 78 freeway and west of College Boulevard.
Now referred to as The Preserve, this new community will feature single family homes (including duplexes, triplexes, and luxury townhomes), luxury apartments and affordable housing units on the 156 acre-site. I’ve seen different numbers of homes quoted so won’t share those until they are finalized.
Half of the total area is dedicated to open space and the supporting infrastructure. The amenities at The Preserve include parks, hiking trails, lap pool, spa, exercise area, pet areas, wading pool and more. The community is close to shopping, dining, major commuting route, medical facilities, Carlsbad schools and general services, plus a tribal resource center.
As you can see from the photos they have made significant progress since my last update, in an area that includes a reclaimed rock quarry, Buena Vista Creek and El Salto Falls (considered sacred by the San Luis Rey band of the Luiseno Indians). An historic hacienda built in 1839, one of the oldest structures in SoCal, is nearby to the west.
You can read more about the recent fossils that were discovered on the property which halted work temporarily a few months ago.
No pricing has been announced, and I’ve heard the first homes should be available in late 2016. No doubt prices will be announced once homes are available for purchase.
