What web site would you miss the most if it went away forever?
For me, it would be YouTube.
Need a tutorial to learn something?
Need a “how to” to fix or do something?
Want to listen to concerts you didn’t (or did) get to attend?
And the list goes on and on.
But sometimes you need to rewind just a little to see something that was just shown.
Or you want to jump ahead.
Maybe you need a quick keystroke to mute the audio while you answer a call.
The mouse is a clumsy way to interact with videos.
Here are a number of keyboard shortcuts that make watching videos easier.
Once you have a YouTube video onscreen, click in the video window (such as where the yellow cursor is) so that the YouTube video is the active window.

Now you can use the following keyboard shortcuts.
Tap the space bar to play or pause a video.
If you want to get past an introduction, press your “L” key (lower case is fine). It will jump the video forward by 10 seconds. Tap it again for another 10 seconds.
If you need to rewind a video by 10 seconds, press the “j” key.
To rewind 10 seconds and pause, press “j” follow by spacebar.
You can also use your arrow keys, ←, → to go forward or back just a few seconds, or hold them down until you get as far forward or back as you want to go.
If you have a phone call coming in just tap the “m” key to mute the audio. Tap “m” again after you call to restore the audio.
I hope these enhance your use of YouTube videos.
