Henderson Holiday Lights 2015

When I was growing up in Wisconsin, the first snow was always a sign that a visit from Santa wasn’t far away. We rarely get snow in the desert (and trust me, getting out of a warm bed to shovel the driveway is no treat!) so we don’t have that seasonal reminder.

But one thing we all have in common from coast to coast is decorating with lights — from the single strands outlining the roofline to elaborate displays that fill the yard representing the joy, hope, and significance of this time of year. From whimsical to spiritual, there’s something for everyone as homeowners all across Henderson celebrate the holidays.

Here’s a list of some of the places where you can see holiday lights in Henderson:

Ethel M Cactus Garden
2 Cactus Garden Dr, 89014

For more than 20 years, Ethel M Chocolates has transformed their 3-acre cactus garden into a winter wonderland. This year’s effort includes more the 500,000 lights, snowmen, polar bears playing with penguins, and of course, Santa and his reindeer. The free exhibit is open now through January 1 from 5PM to 10PM. On Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, local choirs perform from 6PM to 8PM, and you can get your photo with Santa from 5PM to 9PM.

Quiver Point Avenue 89012

The residents of Quiver Point Avenue, (southeast of Valle Verde and Paseo Verde), have made sure that Santa will easily see their street with more than a dozen homes decked out with elaborate displays. Take a stroll to see all of the details and get up close to characters from Peanuts, 101 Dalmatians, The Lion King, Minions, Alice in Wonderland, and more.

To get to Quiver Point, take the 215 Beltway to the Valle Verde exit. Head south past Paseo Verde Parkway. Turn left on Clearwater Canyon Drive, right on Gentle Springs Drive, left on Crystal Stream Avenue, and right on Roaring Rapid Lane. I recommend parking along Roaring Rapid to reduce vehicle traffic on Quiver Point.
