My friends Jane & Bruce Tischler are the greatest friends in the world! Last night, 12/21/15, I was treated to the Greatest Generation Aircraft Christmas Light Night Flight I could possibly imagine with Jane! We flew in a vintage WWII C-47, T9, 41-6315 built in 1942 over beautiful downtown Fort Worth. This was an experience of a lifetime. It was a magic ride! Soaring up in the air. The plane was filled with history and soldiers memories of Christmas past. Our cameras were poking through the gunner holes and the city lights were electrifying! We were flying high soaring after sunset!!!
Getting ready for take-off was exciting. You could hear the loud and powerful roar of the engines unlike any carrier today. We were in the first seats behind the cockpit where the pilots were preparing for take-off. The writing was on the wall! Close your eyes. Image the sights, the sounds, the feelings young soldiers felt landing in Normandy inside this vintage plane. To live and experience the greatest generation aircraft indeed is an experience unlike anything you can image - simply unforgettable!
The city lights were dazzling! The small amount of air blowing through the gunner's hole was just enough to let me know, I was still breathing! The essence of the wind, the spirit of Christmas, life moments blowing through the peep hole in glass. It was like this: A tapestry of lights down below, making connections with the stars, observing the sight of the nearly full moon strung up in the heavens like a single pearl above, thinking perhaps I'll find the Holy Grail in a night-sea journey of lights! This was more than a flight, it was a treasure in the sky and I was inside feeling the beating of my heart with my dear friend Jane!
