Real Estate Haiku #8 - Weather
100 Real Estate Haikus
I like to start the post to explain to those who have not read my posts or to those who have forgotten, what a Haiku is and why I'm doing this 100 Real Estate Haikus. First let's talk about the why.
WHY
This year I decided I wanted to do something fun and interesting so my blogs were not always about the boring real estate stuff like homes for sale, interest rates, open houses and so on. So, I thought it would be fun (and challenging) to write 100 unique real estate Haikus. Now remember, I never, ever said they would be good. I said I would follow the format to writing a Haiku and I would publish them as I went along. I truly expected to be on #100 by December 31, 2015. But alas, life goes on. I have challenged myself and I shall tarry on.
WHAT
A Haiku is a traditional form of Japanese poetry. It has a specific format consisting of three units of 5, 7, and 5 syllables. So the first line will have 5 syllables, the second line will have 7 and the last line will have 5. This obviously makes 17 syllables total to say something interesting in the confinements of the format. I have made it even a bit more difficult because I have also tried to stay within the confines of Real Estate. Today's Haiku, #8 of 100 Real Estate Haikus is about Weather and Real Estate.
WEATHER
It's Snowing Today
I Have Three Local Showings
Do I Risk the Roads?
100 Real Estate Haikus would just be a cluster mess of bits and pieces of information that "anyone" could write. So I will also complete this logic that led to the above Haiku.
WEATHER
How bad does the weather have to be before you decide it's too dangerous to take clients out looking at houses? Anyone who has ever lived where the weather can be super nasty, to the point of dangerous, understands this Haiku greatly.
We all have business to do and places to go, but where do we draw the line on how important that sale or listing agreement is.
What ramifications are there if you have out-of-state clients who will be in town for a day or two?
Let's say your area is expecting 6 inches of snow and blowing and drifting....what's your decision? Do you risk your life and theirs to take them out house-hunting? Would you let your sixteen year-old go out driving in this weather? Would you make a Starbucks run 8 miles away? What would you do?
Okay, away from snow. Let's go to the warmer climates. Let's say we are going to get an inch or two of rain with the possibility for tornadoes or high winds? Hmmm. Stay home or drag them out to view homes? The local news weather channel has said that you should stay in and away from the possibility of blowing debris?
Join us as we share education and enjoyment with our 100 real estate Haikus. It is important to me to explain my logic that led to my current Haiku. So I share with you the reasons behind why I write or create these Haikus. Consider it a learning or exploring lesson!
Your job seems so easy until these types of things are factored into the equation.
It's my opinion that any risk is not worth taking if someone's life may be in jeopardy. But the almighty dollar often dictates and sometimes mistakes are made (deadly or just poorly chosen).
My DISC says I am not a risk taker....Duh!
Are you?
Are your clients?
REMEMBER OUR MOTTO: "If it doesn't make you money, you should be delegating it!"
