Go on a wacky walk through Louisville this December, and become the star of your own game. It's like a board game, except you are the game piece. The Wacky Walk game is designed to be fun, but also to help you learn some new stuff about Louisville while you're at it.
Taking a Wacky Walk
You can take this walk by yourself, but you'll have fun if you bring others along as well. Appoint a captain, and everyone gets play the game. Just watch out for the Joker. Use your smartphone to connect to the Wacky Walk game service, and you're ready to play. Your guide is available at the touch of a button, right through the smartphone.
The Wacky Walk will take you about two hours. You'll be solving riddles and following instructions the whole time. This is no ordinary walk. This is a Wacky Walk. The guide service is available any day from 10 am to 7 pm. Pick a time to play, and go to your starting point at 527 West Jefferson Street. That's the Jefferson County Courthouse, right in the heart of downtown Louisville. This is where you'll find some of the city's best sights.
Extending Your Walk into Old Louisville
Old Louisville is just a few blocks south of downtown Louisville. This is the perfect place to extend your day of walking if you want to explore more of the city. The name is a bit misleading, because the Old Louisville neighborhood is one of the hippest places to live in the city. This is where you'll go to find art fairs, Shakespeare in the park, numerous community festivals and lots of fun, funky places to visit. There are several shops and restaurants around the Old Louisville area, even some nightlife.
There's a lot of great stuff in Old Louisville, but the best part of this neighborhood by far is the homes. Many of them date to the early 1900s, and that's where this community gets its name. The streets are filled with tall Victorian, Queen Anne and Federal homes that have all those amazing features everyone wants to see. You'll have trouble finding two homes that are exactly the same here, because each one was built to be a separate work of art.
Look inside the homes here, and you'll find that there's a perfect home for everyone here. There are tall townhomes, large family homes, cozy places just for two, even apartments for the students and singles. All sorts of people come to live in Old Louisville to be close to the downtown area and get surrounded by history and culture. When you're here, you'll have trouble making yourself leave, too.
