Active Rainers -- If you HAD to move, where would you go?

Hunting Island State Park, Beaufort, SC We are all proud of our home towns. After all, as Realtors, we sell our towns, and it is much easieir to sell what we love.

I think Beaufort, SC is the prettiest, most charming little town on the East Coast, and there's no other  city or town I would prefer to live.

Beaufort is so lovely that the producers of Forrest Gump subsituted Beaufort for the fictitious Greenbow, Alabama.

Besides having gorgeous waterways and  vistas around every turn, Beaufort is  pound-for-pound one of the most historic towns in the country. We are the second-oldest city in South C arolina.

The military has a  strong and positive influence, with three installations. including a Naval hospital, air station and Parris ISland, where they "make Marines."

We have the beach, pictured above,, and numerous boat launches to provide easy access to the endless waterways.

And, the people in Beaufort  are just really, super nice.

But, what if, for the purposes of discussion, I had to leave Beaufort? Where would I go?

That's a tough but fair question.

I don't know if I Can point to one destination, but I can give you two.

Charleston would be a  probability,  because it is a larger version of Beaufort, with similar topography, historical attributes and climate.

But, for something different, I might like to the  mountains, to Asheville, which strikes me  as a  Beaufort in the mountains.

Truth is, I "ll never leave Beaufort, but if you made me choose a couple of other options, those are mine?

What about you? Where might y ou go, if you had to t move?

Keith Strawn Great post and 'plug' for Beaufort, NC. Your question could cause an argument in my house, since Sandy knows I would take Alaska and become Robert (Alaska Bob) Swetz 's neighbor if she would accpt the many months of darkness and cold.

Thanks for the mention Norm and always remember ...

A person can always find a way to live in one are during spring, summer, fall and the balance down south where it's warmer.

100's and 1000's of couples do it and they call them (Snow Birds) ;o)

Keith,
We made that choice 7 years ago when we looked all over the country and decided to move here to Colorado Springs. We are glad we did.
