New Laws Regarding Foreclosures

Someone Finally Listened

 

Have you received any accepted offers on bank foreclosures from an asset manager? Did you see the new paragraph where it asks if you, the Real Estate Agent screened the buyer to determine if they are a terrorist or drug dealer? Yep that's on the new counter offers from asset managers. I suppose that 84 billion dollars a year the federal government is spending om homeland security is not doing its job, so they have to turn to Real Estate Agents to fill the gap. Does that mean we'll have to take hours of training to become secret agents now?

 

Well I figured out how to use that new law to our advantage. You all know a great deal of the Real Estate market goes to agents buying Internet leads. I've spent hours on the phone with a company claiming to be the industry leader in Real Estate leads. During the conversation some interesting facts came up. When asked how they obtain those leads, the man answered, “from undisclosed overseas sources.” Is that a code word for Internet theft?

 

Well I didn't buy the services they offered. So the man basically threatened me, telling me if I don't buy from them, or someone else, I'll be out of business within a year. I took that as a threat. I informed the man my phone is registered on the no call list, and they no longer have permission to call me. That didn't stop them. In the following weeks I received a number of calls. Each time I informed them the number is on the no call list and requested they add my number to their company no call list. After 3 months of harassing calls, I filed a complaint.

 

On the complaint I pointed out how the company explained they received leads from their undisclosed overseas suppliers. I pointed out, most of those companies dealing in Internet theft are involved in funding terrorist activities. Finally after a year, the agency in Wisconsin dealing with no call complaints is taking action. I'm not sure where this is going, but maybe we can finally get some of those companies off line, and stop funding terrorist activities. Maybe we can file enough complaints to stop this rash of Internet theft ruining our businesses and take back the Internet. Not to mention protect our personal businesses they way laws are designed to protect them.

 

Wouldn't it be great if we could have an Internet back the way it used to be? When a customer conducted a search, got results from local Real Estate Agents, then made a few calls, or wrote a few emails to find the best local Agent. Times are rough enough. We don't need 10 people in a pipeline taking illegal cuts from commissions we have to work 5 times harder to earn these days.

 

If FHA wants us to identify terrorist threats, they better pay attention. None of us wants any of our money funding terrorist activity. They better start enforcing state laws forbidding professionally licensed experts from paying for leads and referrals to unlicensed entities. The solution is simple. Enforce laws already on the books. Prosecute Agents willing to bend those rules. And let the rest of us get the business back we used to have before the government allowed the Internet to run wild.

Just as a joke, I say the new laws require the weight of the paperwork to equal the wieght of the house before we can close. The last short sale was much worse than that.
