Happy New Year! Are you on of the many that made a new year resolution? Statistics show that new year resolutions are typically abandoned within the first two weeks of the year. I used to make them and like others, either forgot about it or lost interest. Could it be that some are avoiding the commitment? Maybe too much pressure? Probably, and the fact that "most people cannot keep up with their good intentions".
I was in an airport waiting for a flight back in 1999 and decided to browse through books in a store. Unfortunately, I can't remember the book or the author but the above quote "most people cannot keep up with their good intentions" jumped off the page and embedded itself in my memory. To this day I reference it and most important, remember it when making future plans.
I've found that the pressure of living in the future is unneccessary and not practical. We only have today! If I focus on personal changes each day the weight is much less and a lot easiere to manage.
Rather then making a resolution practice living in the moment and focus your efforts on being the best you can be for that one day. When tomorrow comes, do it again. We all know the future is unknown and today I am ok with that.
Planning is part of life and important in many lines of work, the key for me is being ok with plans changing or not playing out the way I wanted them to.
