Welcome the New Year with a fresh, clean home! What are your goals for your home this 2016? In the spirit of new beginnings, we have come up with these 6 New Years resolutions to make your home beautiful, lively, efficient and cozy the whole year round.

1. Spice up your living room. There is a reason why the living room is named so – it’s where so much of your everyday life happens. It’s the place where we come to relax, the room where we spend time with family and friends. Bring new life to your living room by adding a few bright cushions or replacing your rug. Small steps like these make huge difference to the look of your space.

2. Healthy Kitchen. The most popular New Year's resolution has something to do with eating healthier. Clear out your kitchen of the holiday leftovers and kickstart your way to a healthier lifestyle. Check your fridge and pantry and toss out anything that's past the expiration date. Start looking at healthier recipes online and in cookbooks and replace your unhealthy dishes.

3. Start your morning right. Make it a habit to make your bed every morning. It may be a small task, but it's a good way to start the day. It only takes a few minutes but it can increase your productivity and reduce stress levels through out the day,

4. Clean out your closet. Got any clothing that no longer fits? Do you have old clothes that you no longer use? This is a good time to let go of clothes that are just sitting in your closet. Pull out every piece you have and organize them based on their purpose. Separate work outfit from everyday and casual outfits, then figure which ones you can get rid of. You can donate to charity or host a garage sale.

5. Clutter-free home. Organize your life this New Year by conquering your home clutter. It can be an overwhelming task, but it is necessary to start the year right. Do one room at a time, assess what you have and throw out everything that you no longer use or need.

6. Be green. Aside from switching to healthier eating habits and improving your lifestyle, you can also start being more concerned about the environment. Start to properly recycle, to make sure the tap is off when you brush your teeth, or even just remembering to turn off lights and appliances when you’re not using them.

These are small little things you can do to start the New Year right. However, the key in being successful at achieving your New Year's resolution is consistency.
