RESPECT, one AR guideline that really matters

Real Estate Agent with Resort and Second-Home Specialist REALTOR Broker #21673

R-E-S-P-E-C-T, find out what it means to me.

Number 2 on the blog list in the 2016 Blog JUMPSTART Challenge asks us to post something about one or two of our favorite guidelines for this community. You'll find the AR Community Guidelines here.

Many of these guidelines seem like legal issues or simply basic good behavior to me. But the first one definitely stands out. Respect for our
industry and adding to transparency for the public is something I think is essential for this forum's success.

As real estate professionals we need to maintain a standard that communicates our commitment to ethical practices and integrity in our agency relationship with every client as well as the public and other agents.

We are not only marketers or salespeople. We are - or should be- trained professionals who honor the responsibilities of fiduciary agency to our clients without compromise based on any self interest. As professionals we must know the laws and codes governing property in our region and have the skills to support our clients in understanding the specific issues that may impact the value and use of different properties.

ActiveRain is a community of professionals. Much of the content shared here communicates true professionalism. Many of us are experts and I find respect for our profession exemplified in most of the listings and educational blogs posted here.

I like the position you advanced in this post.  I like the respect that is shown here.  Some of the realtor facebook groups I belong to, I am on the verge of quitting because of the pettiness and criticism.

Kathleen - professionalism and ethics and trust are very important.  I agree that without that there is no respect.
