You have it exactly right Ed! We are virtually unemployed until someone hires us. Why would we make ourselves hard to work with?

I don't understand how some agents take clients but then tell them when they can work with them
Ed we all tend to forget this point of our business. I am one of the biggest violators of this, I do not mind working late at night or in the afternoon...most of my clients understand that I do not do early mornings...luckily most Los Angeles Realtors do not do early morning either so it is not my fault:)), Endre

I have issues as well when they want to interfere with my early morning golf
Good morning Ed. I know one thing for sure, when you represent a client, they are well served. I wise choice for them to work with you.

Thanks Joe, we are at their service they cannot be told when they can work with us
Good morning Ed. I think that you have hit the nail on the head. We do our best to work our inspections into their schedule. Sometimes we can't. Both sides need to make adjustments.

Inspections would have to be the most difficult to schedule at special hours

Enjoyed "seeing you" here this morning! Lynn
Our schedule IS their schedule....whatever that may mean to each individually.

We are their employees for the duration of the relationship
Hi Ed. We are at the mercy of our clients. When they are available we have to be.

To the best of our abilities
Ed like everyone else I prefer to meet with clients during what considered normal working hours, but that is often not possible, and I am not going to suggest a Borrower take time off work to meet with me. So I always make myself available after working hours it that is what my Borrower requires. It is foolish to lose a client because we are not flexible enough to meet THEIR needs.

I agree that we should make every effort to accommodate our clients schedules. That being said, it is important for us to not be taken advantage of. Calling me at 7pm wanting to get in at 8pm, well, I used to do that and it cost me a lot in my personal life. Balance is key!

YUP!!! That's why I call my real estate firm a CONCIERGE BROKERAGE. Sometimes 7:00 am showings so Client can get to work on Client's schedule and sometimes even 8:00 pm when they get out of work...
Real Estate is - as Debbie Laity says -- and all the others commenting above say, real estate is a service business. Yet we do need to remember the point made by Shannon Milligan, Richmond VA Real Estate Agent/Associate Broker in her comment above. All the best, Lynn
For the most part and within fair reason, my clients call the shots with me. That's why I'm THEIR agent. They may be my clients, but it's more important that I work for them and help them to the best of my abililty.
