If You Have Team - Are They In the Right Roles?

Help Folks Find What They are Best At!

As a life long learner, a lesson I learned a long time ago was to have the right folks in the right job roles. It was so easy to take a high performer and move them to a need we had, only to watch the wheels fall off.

Too many leaders were quick to hold them accountable and fire them vs stepping back and realizing they might have just put them in a role they were not ideal for.

Even in Real Estate this is true. Not all licensed folks should be out selling real estate. Some folks are better on the paperwork side, the listing side or the buying side. Many of us are horrible at having the patience or skill to do Property management for example. Some thrive in commercial real estate while others cringe. We all have something that we are better at.

When taking a new agent under our wings, we offer them the best value if we help them find their ideal niche in real estate.  Maybe the agent who is struggling is just in the wrong lane? Maybe they don't know the other options real estate has for them. Help them discover what might work best for them and their passions and skill sets.

I saw this quote today and thought about how it works in all fields. While I've only been an active agent for the last few years, I've seen this same phenomenon I had in my Corporate world happen here.

Just like in the above quote...

Help folks find what they are great at and they will soar!

Just my thoughts for the day....

I have always thought the best is to hire slow, fire quick.  Yet, if you do take the time to hire slow, you should have done homework as to where to place them.  Nice post.

Tammy - this is an excellent discussion that goes with accountability.  As Jim Collins says, "Get the right people on the bus and the right people in the right seats."   And a key engagement question on engagement surveys is "Every day I get to do what I do best."
