Understanding the ActiveRain Points Reward System

Do you sometimes wonder what you do to receive points on ActiveRain?  Maybe you are trying to reach a certain level in your area and aren’t real sure how to earn the extra points you need.

It can be confusing sometimes but there is an easy way to get a clear picture of point worthy activities.

If you go to your name on the title bar and scroll down to the Points section, you will be brought to your scoring page. This page shows the points you earned with the newest on top.

At the top/middle of the page under Score Summary, you will see a link to ActiveRain Point System.  Click on this link and you will have the latest and greatest point awarding system.

Here is a screen shot of the charts outlining the ActiveRain points system.  We all know that there is so much more to ActiveRain than just the points accumulated along the way, but we should also be aware of the scoring events as we make our daily contributions.

I can see going after the points in order to gain free membership, but other than that, they're just for fun, so I don' worry about them.

When it was easy for a visitor to view the leaderboard it might have had some influence on finding/choosing an agent, but now that you have to work to find it, I don't think points have much value for promotion to consumers.

Lately I have been watching the points and being very dedicated about getting them, but that may end in a couple of weeks.

Well we have certainly moved beyond the early days with so many ways to score.  I used to max my points every day.  Now I do not even try.

The points keep me motivated.  It it is fun to set some goals and then reach a certain level.  However, the contacts and the community outweigh the points.

Belinda Spillman thanks for reminding about this system - many newbies (and even oldies) will learn this - which is a question for them all the time!

I find most folks secretly care about the points until they hit 500,000 and then any other milestone. LOL   We are competitive creatures.

Belinda - great list for those that don't understand the point system!  I remember when I hit a certain milestone and then achieved a few odd points, so I added that info into the post I wrote about the milestone.  Instantly I had answers as to what those few points were related to which item.  Bam- ActiveRainers to the rescue!

Hi Belinda...Thanks for sharing this. It is helpful even for an old timer. I did not realize that points are given for up to 20 comments a day. I know that points are not the reason to be on here. There are many other more important benefits but the points do add up.

The point system is quite a unique system that has helped AR to do amazing things, like teach us to do the things we need to do to get the best seo of any system out there, and have fun at the same time.

Its kind of fun to collect points but it is of no value to consumers. Having a competitive nature myself, I am now trying to become #1 in my area, only a few points away, lol.
